A single AP has limited range and won't always cover a household completely. In these cases, you need to rely on Wi-Fi Mesh, utilizing multiple APs to get better coverage. WIO provides this with support for both wireless and cabled backhauls.
The handover between APs are important to ensure that real- time connections are not disrupted. WIO has a highly adaptive Roaming Assistant that assist clients to make their roaming decisions.
In households where there are many clients with different capabilities and range, it's important to provide the optimal connection through the most ideal band and AP. With WIO, clients gets automatically assigned to the best band and AP based on signal strength and load.
In order to reduce the number if SSIDs broadcasted, WIO implemented the One-SSID feature where a single SSID can accept multiple passwords (PSK). This allows WIO to place connecting users into separate groups based on their password.
Without any airtime scheduling, a single device with low signal strength and high volumes of transfers can occupy most of the airtime capacity available. This is a common problem in households proliferated with devices. With Airtime Fairness scheduling, it's possible to give each device a fair portion of the available airtime, creating a more even environment when multiple devices transfers at the same time.
Smart Channel Assigner
Based on all the collected data from all CPEs in the whole building, WIO can create an optimized channel assignment map for apartment complexes. This is performed and adjusted several times per day, depending on any introduction of global or local interference. Rogue access points will be identified and added to the channel mapping for avoidance.
Protecting the household
Protecting a household from external threats and phishing attempts has become important. The threat landscape is now more diverse, with attackers working harder to discover new ways to intrude, making people more observant as the media’s attention rise. This creates a customer demand in security solutions.
WIO can automatically block Internet sites deemed unwanted for most people that has a malicious intent, acting against the interest of the user, such as malware, ransomware, scams, phishing sites, botnets and other exploits.
To protect children, a household can enable Parental Control filters for each individual device to block all inappropriate content, without installing any software on them locally.
Using a firewall is an essential step in securing a home from unwanted intrusion. The firewall provided by WIO are able to track connections and relate previously sent packets to make sure they are legit.
Device Access Control
New devices connecting to a network are normally given full access, making the least secure device a possible attack surface for hackers. WIO allows for customers to set default Device Access Control, giving either Full Access, Only Internet Access, or No Access. Great for confining the newly acquired IoT device.
In any Service Providers technology architecture, it’s common to have multiple services integrated. WIO assumes no less and provides a range of integration possibilities and solutions out of the box.
You can control WIO via REST APIs. All mobile applications and management tools are built upon our own APIs.
WIO can generate real-time events provided by the platform when something take place, such as a new device got associated or discovered, a site got blocked or a CPE went offline and more.
WIO Mobile Services
With the increased support for Wi-Fi Alliancesʼ Passpoint technology, it is now possible to authenticate mobile devices over Wi-Fi through the use of their SIM cards. WIO provides direct integrations with the Mobile Carriers HSS (Home Subscriber Server) to query the SIM database.
